Custom Swimsuit Cost and Turnaround Time: What You Pay, What You Wait For, What Happens If It Doesn't Fit

Key Takeaways

  • A custom Ir Al Sol suit costs $295, or $395 reversible, and takes four to six weeks from order to door with tracking.
  • The price includes the top by band and cup, the bottom by XS to XL, free U.S. standard shipping and one free adjustment.
  • Every custom order gets one free adjustment with shipping covered both ways, if you report a fit issue within 30 days of delivery.
  • Ready Now pieces are already made and generally arrive in four to nine business days, for anyone who cannot wait the full custom window.
  • Working backward from a trip date, allow the full four to six weeks plus any adjustment time before you need the suit.

This page covers what a custom swimsuit costs and how long it takes, and why both numbers come from the same place. It walks through the stages of the wait, what the price includes, the options that change the order, and what happens if the suit needs adjusting.

Custom Swimsuit Cost and Turnaround Time: The Short Answer Before the Details

A custom suit from Ir Al Sol costs $295, or $395 for a reversible suit, and arrives four to six weeks after you order, with tracking. Standard shipping within the United States is free, and every custom order includes one free adjustment. Those figures match our custom swimwear page.

Why the Risk Policy Is Part of the Price

A price tag only tells you half the story. Some custom programs treat every piece as final sale, and others charge for alterations. In both cases the cost of a wrong fit lands on you.

Ours works differently. One adjustment is free, shipping is covered both ways, and if a suit cannot be altered we refund the purchase in full. That belongs in the price comparison, because $295 with a safety net is a different purchase than $295 without one.

Why the Price and the Wait Share One Cause

Nothing is cut before you order it. Each suit is drawn, cut and sewn in Florida after your order arrives, for one person, in both of your sizes. That is why the wait is weeks and not days, and it is also why the price covers a suit nobody else will have. Stock is quick because it exists already. A suit cut for you cannot exist until you ask for it.

A suit cut only after you order is why you wait weeks, and why nobody else will own the same one.

What Four to Six Weeks Actually Contains

The four to six weeks is the time it takes to read your fit answers, draw the pattern in both sizes, cut, sew, finish and ship one suit. Each step happens after you order. Nothing waits on a shelf, and nothing is skipped.

The Order-to-Door Timeline

  1. You answer five short questions about how suits behave on you. No tape measure.
  2. Your top is set by band and cup, and your bottom by XS to XL.
  3. The pattern is drawn for your sizes and any added torso length.
  4. Your fabric is cut, in a shape that is never cut the same way twice.
  5. The suit is sewn in Florida.
  6. It ships with tracking, and standard U.S. shipping is free.

The five-question approach is explained in our piece on suit behavior and sizing.

How This Compares With Other Timelines

Turnaround numbers across the industry vary because the work varies. One boutique maker quotes 3 to 4 weeks for custom orders, stretching to 4 to 6 weeks in spring and summer. Print-to-order services can ship in a day or two because they customize a print on an existing shape. Cutting a new pattern for your fit takes longer.

If You Cannot Wait

A small number of Ready Now pieces from earlier collections are already made, one of each size. They generally arrive in four to nine business days, according to our FAQ. They are a good answer when a date is close.

What a Custom Swimsuit Costs and What the Price Covers

A custom suit is $295, and the price already includes both of your sizes. There are no line items for a different top and bottom size or a larger cup. What you see is what you pay.

What Is Included at No Extra Cost

  • The top cut by band and cup, and the bottom cut by XS to XL
  • A larger cup, which never costs more
  • Added length between bust and leg on request
  • Free standard shipping within the United States, with tracking
  • One free adjustment, with shipping covered both ways

Two Suits to Make One

Most of us are not the same size on top as on the bottom. A matched set asks you to choose which half to disappoint, so many women buy a second set and end up with a leftover top and a leftover bottom. That is two purchases, two waits for delivery and probably a return or two, for one suit that works.

One custom suit replaces that whole loop. We are not putting prices on what you have already spent, because only you know that number. Add it up the next time you are tempted by a second set. Sizing built around an average nobody actually is was never going to fit both halves.

Price points elsewhere vary. Some custom makers price each piece separately, from about $200 for one bikini piece. Ours is per suit, with both sizes inside it.

Reversible, Full Coverage and Long Torso: Where the Price and the Timeline Shift

Reversible is the one option that changes the price, from $295 to $395. Full coverage and long torso are specified in the order at no added charge. Nothing here is an upgrade tier.

Why Reversible Costs $395

A reversible suit has both faces finished, so one suit goes in the bag and two come out. A reversible two-piece can be worn four ways, and a reversible one-piece two ways. The extra $100 pays for the second finished face, which is real additional sewing. We explain the construction in our reversible swimsuit guide.

Why a Reversible Top Has No Built-In Bra

A shelf bra or underwire needs an interior space between two layers. A reversible top has no such space, because both sides are visible faces. Support comes from the cut instead, which is why band and cup matters so much. For a fuller bust, that starting point is more useful than a chest measurement, which is not a bra size.

Torso Length and Coverage

One-pieces ride up when they are cut too short between bust and leg. We cut that distance longer on request, guided by the five fit questions. Coverage is chosen the same way, from our modest coverage bottoms to our one-piece styles. Neither adds cost.

If It Doesn't Fit: The Adjustment, the Shipping and the Wait That Follows

Every custom order includes one free adjustment. Tell us within 30 days of delivery, send a photo of the suit being worn, and we send a prepaid return label. Shipping is covered both ways.

How the Adjustment Works

The fear behind any made-to-order purchase is being stuck with a suit cut for nobody else. That fear is reasonable, and it is why the policy exists. You never have to guess at a tape measure, because ordering is five questions about how suits behave on you. If the fit still needs a change, the suit is what gets adjusted. And if it cannot be altered, we refund the purchase in full, as our custom page explains.

Made-to-order only feels risky when a wrong fit is your problem; here it becomes ours to fix.

Working Backward From a Trip Date

Count back from the day you need the suit. The four to six weeks already includes delivery. An adjustment adds a second round trip through the post, so leave extra time for that.

  • Trip more than ten weeks away: order custom and leave room for one adjustment.
  • Trip closer than that: look at Ready Now pieces, which generally arrive in four to nine business days.
  • Pool season: order before spring, when waits tend to stretch industry-wide.

Cut once, for one person, in both of your sizes. Order early, and it is ready when the water is.
